Days 5-8

Monday, November 11, 2013
November has been busy, busy! I haven't had much time to blog. Can you believe Thanksgiving is almost here? Where has this year gone? Christmas is just around the corner. I can't wait to start decorating. At any rate, I need to catch up on my daily thanks. Here I go...

Giving Thanks | The M House
Day 5
I am thankful for good health insurance. The past month or so has made it quite clear that not everyone can say this. While I am a supporter of the Affordable Care Act, I have to be honest in saying the roll-out has been a big, fat flop. I'm very thankful for the Adoption Tax Credit, which thanks to the ACA, became permanent, but there are far too many people out there with substandard health coverage. The ACA was meant to fix that; however, good intentions don't make things right. I truly hope Washington can set aside their differences and work towards fixing this. (And the chuckling begins...lol)

Day 6
I am thankful for scientific discoveries. This is pretty self-explanatory, don't you think? Without scientific advances, my husband and I wouldn't be here today. Had my mother experienced with me what I did with Josey, neither one of us would have made it. The same goes for my husband.

Day 7
I am thankful for my husband. We've definitely had our ups and downs, but no one knows me like he does. Our marriage has been tested over and over again, and we continue to keep moving forward. While I'd never wish our trials on anyone, it's strengthened our marriage and our commitment to each other. It's made each of us a better, more empathetic and understanding person. I like where we are today. It just stinks we had to take such a terrible road to get here.

Day 8
I am thankful for small towns. If you've never lived in a small town, it's probably hard to imagine what life is like. I'm sure big cities have a lot of the same within certain communities, but it's nice living in a place where everyone has a strong sense of pride for their community. What I love even more about my own small town is that so many people have a heart for adoption! It's nice to know Z will have a built-in support system among her peers.
