Happy ICLW

Sunday, September 22, 2013
Welcome September ICLWers. It's been awhile since I've done a quick intro for new readers and I know there are many new bloggers out there, so here goes.

I started blogging in 2010 (formerly "Our New Normal") when I lost my daughter at almost 26 weeks to severe preeclampsia. At the time, I was told it was too dangerous to try again. We eventually chose to adopt. Fast forward a couple years and we decided to take that leap and TTC once more. New research was out and it looked like my chances of recurrence were slim. We tried for about 6 months. Nothing happened, obviously. However, while we were TTC we got the call.

We'd been matched with a birthmom. OMG!

Our beautiful daughter was born a few days after Christmas. She is absolute perfection (even though she's spoiled rotten already). Our TTC days are over. We realized that sometimes life doesn't turn out like you planned, but that doesn't make it a bad thing. Sure, there are days when the baby bumps still get to me and I feel that unwelcome tug of depression creeping in, but overall we couldn't be happier. :)
Worth the Wait | The M House

I know it's cliche, but when you hold your baby in your arms for the very first time, it truly is worth the wait. It doesn't matter if you adopted or gave birth to your child, it's the same feeling. It's worth every single minute, every single dollar, every single tear to have that sweet little face snuggled up next to you.

So, for all of you out there still TTC, going through treatments or waiting for "the call," don't ever give up hope!

  1. Happy ICLW to you too!
What a happy outcome for you and your family. You are right that there is nothing else like having your little one in your arms for the first time. I also still feel a tug of sadness when I see other bumps, even though I gave birth to my boy. IF leaves its marks on our soul and sometimes it takes a while (if ever) for it to go away or lessen.
