Happy Birthday

Wow. Little Bit is 11 days old today. I don't even know where to begin. We arrived at the hospital bright and early on Friday morning, December 28th. Within the hour, they suited us up and took us to the delivery room. There wasn't even time to think.

Within a few minutes, we heard the most beautiful cry. She was perfect! I was in complete awe. The hubby couldn't stop crying.

They sent us out of the delivery/operating room with Little Bit. We were floating on air!

The next few hours were a whirlwind, and then came the tornado, blizzard, hurricane...whatever you'd like to call it. Things got a little intense (and awkward, uncomfortable, scary, worried, confusing). An adoptive mom warned me to expect the unexpected while at the hospital and go with it. Unfortunately, I don't think there is an easy way to prepare for the "hospital experience" as an adoptive parent. Our social worker told us we "took the cake" in all her 16 years. (Of course, we did. I wouldn't expect anything less. LOL)

That being said, it was so worth it. As soon as we laid eyes on her, I could feel my heart start to mend, to heal in a way I didn't think was possible. This beautiful, little girl had just changed our entire world. We came home on New Year's Eve.

I had stayed relatively strong while at the hospital, but once we were on our way home, I cried nonstop. It felt like I was living in an alternate reality, still does. It's incredible. And now, we have this little beauty to love and spoil. She doesn't stand a chance. :)
