Copycat Cracker Barrel Grilled Chicken Tenders

Sunday, September 23, 2012
Living in the south, you can't get away from the Cracker Barrel, and really, why would you want to? I get the same thing every time I go - grilled chicken tenderloins, green beans, and cole slaw. Before my low carb days, it was green beans and a baked potato. I was so excited to find all kinds of copy cat recipes on Pinterest!

My first try was a disaster and I swore I'd never try it again. Then, I found another recipe while surfing the net. What I didn't do before was allow the chicken to brown up and the sauce to thicken. So, I decided to try it again.

Here is one version of the recipe:

My latest try turned out great! Even my husband sang its praises.

It is so easy; it just takes a little time. Here's what you need:
  • chicken
  • Italian dressing
  • honey
  • lime juice.
I tasted it while it was cooking without the lime juice and it was sickly sweet. Unfortunately, I didn't have any limes, but I did have a lemon. I do think the lime would make it taste almost exactly like the Cracker Barrel's, but mine was still pretty darn close.

My first copy cat success!
