Curb Appeal

I've been wanting to paint my front door for ages, but I was too chicken. Plus, I never could find the right color that got me over those fears. Then, I stumbled upon a gorgeous picture of a front door that looked a lot like mine, right down to the color of the brick on the house.

This was the color. I had to have it.

I  ran to the local hardware store before I could change my mind. Amazingly, my husband said, "Go for it." This is the same husband who thinks that the inside of a house should only be one color - blah. So, the fact he was full-in was amazing. I had to do it. It was a sign.

Then, there it was - Midnight Hour. The perfect color. But enough with the talk, let me show you how great my door looks!

Before - the poor thing desperately needed a facelift.

I had to paint the door with an oil-based primer first. I wasn't expecting to have to do that, but they couldn't tint an oil-base as dark as I wanted. I wasn't too thrilled, but it had to be done.

During - First coat

I ended up putting three coats on the door. It took me a couple of days, but I absolutely LOVE it!

After - the finished product

It's still a little wet in the picture, but it looks great, don't you think??
