Busy, Busy Bee

Where do I begin? My to-do list, thanks largely in part to Pinterest, keeps growing. My husband told me this afternoon he was going to start limiting my time online. Ha! He doesn't complain when I'm making him my latest Pinterest dinner.

I recently rearranged my living room and now it's time to tackle the kitchen. While I'd love to do a $20K makeover, my budget is closer to the $20 side. Not really, but you get what I'm saying. My first kitchen project is putting up a new back splash using beadboard wallpaper. I am so excited! I also want to use it on the bar, but the hubz is iffy. We'll see how the back splash goes.

Next on the list is a built-in hall tree. I have a very boring, large entryway. I did recently purchase a half circle console table at Kirkland's for one side of the entryway. It's very cute. It is a distressed, blue smoky color, very similar to my drapes.

I'm planning on distressing the hall tree as well. However, I'm thinking of doing a more antique white distressed look. I don't want to over do it with the blues.

I've also changed up some of the decor in my kitchen. Gone are the Tuscan inspired wine bottles and grapes. At the moment, I've added a fork and spoon to hang on the wall from Etsy, a distressed "Bon Appetit" sign above our sliding glass door in the kitchen, and "EAT" above my kitchen window. I bought the large letters at Garden Ridge. They were black with an orangey rim. Very ugly. I sanded them down to get rid of the orange edges. Then I sprayed it lightly with a clear glaze. Love it!

I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the top of my kitchen cabinets. I've got a couple of knick knacks, but I'm not quite sold on them. If you have any suggestions, I'm all ears!

In other news, GO BIG BLUE!! The Cats are headed to the Final Four, and they are playing Louisville. For those of you not from Kentucky, this is the match up of the century. The ultimate rivalry. I wouldn't be surprised if this week becomes a state holiday. LOL Basketball will most definitely consume the Bluegrass this week. I can't even begin to imagine what next Saturday will be like. Until then, I'll be on pins and needles!!

  3. Hi,

I'm a first time visitor through ICLW. Good luck with your adoption journey. 'Pinterest dinner' made me smile, thinking about the possible literal meaning of it. :)

    Best wishes,

    Casey

  4. Since this post is over a month old, I am wondering how much on your to do list you were able to achieve? Being busy is good for the mind and soul. The saying; an idle man is the devil's workshop is on my mind now.
