Bittersweet

Happy Monday! The only reason I'm so cheerful on this gloomy Monday morning is because there are only 2  days in this work week. Can I get an Amen?

Even though, only 4 short weeks ago, I was on the sandy beaches of Florida, I am in need of another vacation. Sad, huh? Work has been wild. The holiday season is always bittersweet. I find myself full of holiday cheer only to be replaced with the Grinch. I stopped at Wal-Mart on Friday and everywhere I turned were sweet little babies all wrapped up in their carseats, shopping with their Mamas. Even worse, as I was walking in, a woman got out of her beat up old car with barely a tooth in her head and 4, yes 4, gorgeous little dirty-faced kids with mismatched clothes and different shoes on their feet came waddling out behind her. Really? My heart just broke.

DH keeps reminding me our time is coming. He swears our agency has a waiting list. Those that are first get chosen first, then on to the next couple and so on. We were told this wasn't the case, but he truly believes it is. He thinks this is why we haven't been chosen yet. The agency has had several placements recently, including twins. Maybe he's right, who knows? Anywho...

I did manage to get my Christmas tree up this weekend. I even strung some lights around our mini-christmas tree outside. My nephew loves the lights. It made stringing those puppies out in the rain all worth it. :)

I'll leave you with a picture of our spoiled rotten shih-tzu, Newton. God love him. He really is rotten.

  1. Thank you for your sweet comments on my post.

I am feeling the same pangs this holiday season. I think back to a year ago when we were still so raw from our miscarriage. I know we are healing, but in my heart of hearts, I was really hoping this would be THE holiday that we finally were a family of three.

We also have a very spoiled furry child... he's taken to curling up on our bed while I am in the shower. He's VERY spoiled!

Hope your last day of work is quick and painless! Have a great Thanksgiving.

  3. Woo for short weeks! Work is so much easier to deal with that way. Just knowing that I have an extra day to sleep this week is keeping me going.
