Back to School

I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address...~You've Got Mail

I love this time of year. I truly don't understand why I wasn't meant to be a teacher. That being said, the first day of school is one of my favorite holidays. Why is it a holiday you ask? Because my DH goes back to work. LOL Aside from that though, I love the feel of a new school year. I get to experience it from both sides - the public school system and the university.

We live in a relatively small, university town. When the students arrive for the academic year, our town gets a renewed sense of energy. I love it. New school years bring back good memories and, in turn, tend to give me a renewed sense of energy and vitality.

Last year, I didn't feel it. Last year, I was basically putting one foot in front of the other trying to get through the first year. This year, I'm feeling a new tug in a different direction. I feel more like myself than I have in a long time, but there seems to be a wind of change in the air. I'm not sure if it's a fleeting thought based on the whole "back to school" feel right now or if it's real. However, I'm really leaning towards going back to school.

After I finished my master's, I swore I was finished, but now I'm finding myself leaning towards beginning a new master's program. DH is about 2 semesters away from completing his doctorate, so maybe now is a good time to begin. Just in time for a new baby, right? I must be crazy. Ha! If we happened to get matched in the next few months, I may reconsider. We'll just have to wait and see.

  1. It's a great time of year! I keep saying I need to come & see campus & have yet to do it...maybe when I do we can do lunch or something & talk adoption & whatnot! :D

  2. of my favorite quotes from You've Got Mail. It is indeed a fabulous time of year. Today on a bike ride, DH said "I smell fall."

  3. I say go for it..don't let the waiting game stop you from Persuing a newest thing to say is "why not?"...I have been a planner all my life- and I am finally trying to adopt a bit more of a " why not" attitude when it comesmto unplanned opportunities. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.
