Giving Thanks

Wednesday, November 24, 2010
While life has definitely kicked us in the gut a few times this year, there are still several things I am thankful for this year.

1.  I am thankful for my husband and my furbaby for always being there for me when I need it most.

2.  I am thankful for my incredible family and friends who are also there for me when I need it most.

3.  I am thankful for a second chance at life after thinking I might not make it home.

4.  I am thankful for Josey, because without her I wouldn't know unconditional love nor would I ever have realized the strength and guidance I have received from experiencing such grief, love and loss. She has brought DH and I closer and given us a stronger and deeper relationship, and I'm not sure that would have ever happened had it not been for her.

5.  I am thankful for my home.

6.  I am thankful for my job.

7.  I am thankful for the community I live in and all the people that have supported us, prayed for us and continue to do so. It's quite humbling.

8.  I am thankful for an incredible adoption agency.

9.  I am thankful for the future birthparents of our child.

10. I am thankful for the opportunity to (hopefully one day soon) become adoptive parents.

Sometimes it's hard to sit back and be thankful for anything when it seems all you've experienced is tragedy, but I now know from experience you can find beauty in every loss. You just have to be open to it.  It's just really unfortunate that we have to find it this way.

  1. It's definitely hard to find things to be thankful for, but I too am starting to learn about finding beauty in tragedy. Lovely post.

  2. you're right, it is hard to think of things to be thankful for when you've had a tough year, but you've done a great job! hopefully you'll only continue to have things to be thankful for.

  5. Your post is a reminder of how valuable it is to practice gratitude. I like the way you've included some simple things that many people take for granted, and some unusual things that some people might not see as blessings. I admire your ability to find the good in a difficult situation.
