March of Dimes

I think I just got in way over my head, but I'm excited! After losing Josey and recovering from the preeclampsia and hellp, I just felt the need to do something. Unfortunately, I had no idea what that "something" was or should be. Then, I received a letter in the mail from a friend here in town that had donated to the March of Dimes in memory of Josey. Honestly, I didn't know a lot about the March of Dimes. Once I did a little googling, I thought, "What a great idea to have an event here!" Unfortunately, my town doesn't have a March for Babies...yet. However, our town always does very well when hosting community events. We have a great Relay for Life, MS Walk and a few others. So, why not us?

I'm planning on meeting with the March of Dimes next month. I know this will be a lot of work, but I think it's a great way to remember Josey and help so many other moms and babies out there. Wish me luck! :)

  1. I wish there was another organization for babies other than the March of Dimes. I hate that the March of Dimes pays their president more than $600,000 a year and they are very inefficient with the money they do raise. I guess they raise so much that they can afford to waste it, but it bothers me. (Charity navigator is a good site that keeps track of this and all major charities . For that reason, I don't donate to them, personally.

That being said, good luck with your fundraising and I hope it goes well for you.

  2. @ Angie, wow I had no idea!!! Good to know.

I was part of the MOD walk this past April in my area. It was a fun walk and I was honored to be part of it but I am not sure if I would do it again next year to be honest with you. I am going to do "A walk to remember" next month, I hope that it is better than MOD. If it then next year I will put all my efforts into that walk. Try it out and see how you like it, good luck to you.

  3. I did the MOD walk in memory of my baby this past year and had 5 walkers with me. It is amazing how many people will come out to support the cause. The MOD is a wonderful organization and can help you start a local March for Babies. I am proud of you for taking the step towards getting one started. What a wonderful thing to do!
